Course Description
.

Designed by Eddie Hackett and Eddie Connaughton Arklow Golf Course is a relatively short track, measuring 6,387 yd's with a Par of 69 and a Standard Scratch of 69. It is a tightly routed links with fine views of the Irish See and the Wicklow Mountains in the distance. Water crosses seven holes and comes into play on three holes.

Arklow comprises five Par threes and the finishing hole is the only Par 5 measuring 486 meters. The feature hole is the 17th at 408 m a dogleg left requiring a well placed tee shot and a long second to get home in regulation.

Arklow Golf Club has a fine clubhouse with excellent catering facilities where the visitor is assured of a warm welcome.Voted the No. 99-ranked golf course in Ireland, by “Golf Digest Ireland” in 2008.Arklow was voted No. 29 Links/Shoreline Course in Ireland by "Backspin" Irelands leading Golf magazine in 2008, the panel comprised of a selection of 52 Professional and amateur golfers throughout Ireland.

Members Achievements

Lady Captain, Anne Hosey (12), Captain Tommy Dunne (13) and Honorary Secretary, Brendan Timmons (5), were second in the Regional Qualifiers of the Mercedes-Benz-Irish Independent Executive Trophy with 72 points at Mount Julies in July 2002. They went on to play in the National Finals at The K Club on August 12th.

Congratulations to William Hunt-Tyrell, who won the Druid's Glen-Irish Independent Club Golfer of the Month for April 2001. He received a beautiful limited edition painting by Robert Ballagh of one of the holes on Druid's Glen course for his achievement. Willie a 5 handicapper qualified for the finals of the Irish Remax Long-Drive Championship at Kilkenny Golf Club when he drove the ball 356 yd's into a gentle breeze. Then in the Final at Slieve Russell in September 2001 he hit the ball 360 yd's to book his place in the World Championship in Las Vegas in October.

Ann Hosey emerged triumphant at Adare Manor Golf & Country Club, in the Irish final of the Peugeot Challenge Cup in August 2001. She returned a fine score of 71 nett to book her place in the Grand Final in Paris in September. At the Disneyland Paris course Ann became World Champion. She returned a 69 net to become the first Irish Woman to win the world final of the Peugeot Challenge Cup. Well done Ann.

Lady Captain Teresa O'Toole, Captain Kevin Carroll and Brendan Timmons came 9th in the National Final of the Mercedes Benz-Irish Independent Executive Trophy at the K Club on the 13th of August 2001. They returned a score of 72 points which was three off the winners.

Arklow Golf Club won the Leinster Final of the Irish Junior Cup at Laytown & Bettystown in 1990, when the team was Chris Doyle, Trevor O'Sullivan, Ray Murphy, Derek Kavanagh, Jimmy Gilbert, Tommy Kealy and Walter Gilbert, they were selected by John Grooms, Billy Woodhouse and Mick Daly.

Arklow won the Brennan Cup in 1998, when the team was Liam Murphy, Kevin Hosey, John O'Halloran, Jim Doyle, Martin Lipsett, Eddie Howlin, Tom Graham, Brendan Timmons, Tom Carty, Liam Byrne, they were managed by Billy Woodhouse.

They were County Champions in the J. B. Carr Diamond Trophy in 1997, when the team was Tom Walsh, Jimmy Kenny, Paddy Dennehy, Paddy Kelly, Tommy Wixted, Timmy Weadick, Turlo Nicholson, Eddie Howlin, Declan McDonough, Paddy Lipsett and Willie Humphries, they were managed by John O'Halloran.

They were runners-up in the Provincial Towns in 1984 and 1993. The Ladies of Arklow Golf Club won the All-Ireland Ulster Bank Ladies Fourball in 1998. They won the Midland Plate in 1990, when the team was T. O'Toole, M. T. Pierce, G. Evans, M. Tancred, C. Ledwidge, J. McElheron, B. Roberts and T. Kelly. They won it again in 1991, with E. Woodhouse, K. Hurley, J. McElheron, P. Dillon, M. Tancred, M. Keating and M. Tancred.

J. Groome represented Leinster in 1996. Kenny Lewis played Leinster Youths in 1996.

Ann O'Riordan played for the Irish Girls in 1984 Denise McCarthy played for the Irish Girls in 1985.
