Course Description: |
Designed by Des Smyth a legend
in professional golf and course architecture Royal Tara consists of 27 holes
of championship quality situated just 25 minutes northwest of the M50 motorway
that encircles Dublin City. The main 18-hole, par 72 course measures 6000 m and is on a
par with the best parkland courses in the country. With its sand based greens
the course is playable all year round and the proliferation of mature trees
makes it a fair test for all golfers. A further 9-holes measuring almost 3000
m (without sand based greens) provides ample opportunity to vary the courses.
A new state of the art clubhouse
opened in November 2000 provides all the facilities that golfers have come to
expect from a top quality club. Excellent catering and a chance to converse
with some members will ensure a pleasant visit to Royal Tara. Voted the No. 93-ranked golf course in Ireland, by
“Golf Digest Ireland” in 2008.

Club History |
Instituted 1922, affiliated 1923. The,
original Bellinter Park Golf Club was founded about 1922, by disgruntled members
of the Navan Golf Club founded in 1907. In the early 1960's the Land Commission
acquired the Briscoe Estate, near Bellinter, on which the club had a nine course.
Enough additional land became available to allow the, club expand to an eighteen-hole
between 1966-67 at which time the club changed its name to Royal Tara. The
Royal in Royal Tara refers to the proximity of the Hill of Tara, the residence
of the High Kings of Ireland. In 1995, an additional nine-holes were added and
in the millennium year Royal Tara opened its magnificent new clubhouse.
